Turkey Berry (Solanum torvum): Growing from Seed – Sowing & Germination Guide

Turkey berry seeds germinate irregularly, so they need proper preparation. Follow these germination and growing instructions.

Preparing the seeds

Simple method: soak in water for 10 hours. Better: soak for 4 hours, then keep on damp kitchen paper in the fridge for 40–50 days. Highest success rate: soak for 3 hours in water with a little potassium nitrate or GA3, then rinse.

Sowing and planting depth

Plant 0.5 cm deep in rich, organic, well-draining soil.

Germination temperature

Ideally 25–30°C, never below 20°C. Germination takes 15–100 days.

Watering and light

Keep the soil constantly moist. After germination it needs sun and warmth.
