Heirloom Tomato Varieties

In our shop you will find traditional tomato varieties of many kinds.

What are traditional tomato varieties?

Known abroad as “old” or heirloom seeds, these are tomato varieties untouched by time, with no human intervention beyond simple, traditional growing. If you are looking for tomatoes with an intense, true tomato flavour whose seeds you can save and sow again next season, these are the varieties for you – and sadly they are quite rare nowadays!

Which are the traditional tomato varieties?

Traditional does not mean outdated. Looking at supermarket tomatoes, it is easy to forget that tomatoes are a seasonal product – yet they are on sale all year round. Traditional varieties are now quite rare, but their seeds can be saved and sown the following year for a new harvest! These varieties have stayed true over time, with their flavour intact. They include the Greek “Thessaloniki” variety, which gives a large crop of red fruit; Favorit, with deep red, round tomatoes full of flavour and few seeds; the heirloom Brandywine; the Bulgarian Giant tomato and many more.
