Who said plants can't feel? Mimosa pudica is extremely sensitive to touch – so sensitive that at the slightest touch it instantly folds up the leaf or leaflets you touched, or even a whole branch.
Mimosa pudica (from the Latin for “shy” or “bashful”) is commonly known as the sensitive plant or touch-me-not, thanks to the remarkable way its leaves fold up and droop when something touches them! It's a dicotyledonous plant in the legume family (Fabaceae), in the mimosa subfamily.
Growing mimosa is fascinating: from its very first couple of tiny leaves, you'll see the plant move when you water it and the water touches them!
If you don't believe it, watch the amazing video below! You can have your own fully grown plant in 2–3 months!
What's more, Mimosa pudica germinates very easily and quickly – a perfect way to impress your friends.
Mimosa pudica is a prickly plant of moderate growth, 30 to 80 cm tall, with fluffy pink flowers. It needs plenty of water and a spot with morning or afternoon sun. Its defining feature is that at the slightest touch, or even in the wind, its leaves fold up and droop.
For best results, pair your mimosa with one of our fertilisers (use once a month from the first month after planting).
Mimosa germination/growing notes are included.
In our shop you can also find mimosa as a ready-grown plant.
