What is arbaroriza?
Arbaroriza is a shrubby plant of fairly modest size, growing to about 0.3 m tall and around 1.5 m wide. Its spreading branches are soft, and individual side branches can reach 0.6 m long. It flowers with beautiful pink flowers.
Pelargoniums get their name from the resemblance of their fruit to a stork's beak (pelargos in Greek). The genus Pelargonium belongs to the Geraniaceae family, a large family found mainly in subtropical and tropical regions. Most pelargoniums come from southern Africa.
Rose-scented pelargonium is grown mainly for its fragrant oil. Its sweetly scented leaves have traditionally been rubbed on the skin or added to the bath.
Its leaves can also be used to make a fragrant tea.
Do scented geraniums repel mosquitoes?
Scented geraniums are a popular plant for keeping mosquitoes away. Some varieties give off a lemony scent reminiscent of citronella grass, and their strong fragrance is said to deter various insects.
Mosquitoes are said to dislike the scent of this aromatic geranium, so it's worth growing in planters near the windows and doors of your home.
Care instructions for arbaroriza are included.
