Thevetia (Thevetia peruviana, syn. Thevetia neriifolia) is a striking evergreen shrub from tropical America, belonging to the same family as the Mediterranean oleander (Nerium oleander). It is widely grown and well known for its showy flowers.
Orange oleander is an eye-catching relative of the oleander we all know.
Its vivid colour makes it especially attractive for gardens and ornamental spaces.
Its main feature is its orange flowers, which range from soft peach to deep orange and have a distinctive fragrance. It flowers for many months, from spring to autumn, putting on a constant display. It can grow several metres tall, making it suitable for hedges or as a specimen plant.
It is a very tough plant that tolerates high temperatures, drought and a variety of soils. Please note: like oleander, all parts of the plant are highly toxic if eaten – keep away from children and pets.
Where is it found?
