In botany, Narcissus is a distinctive genus of the amaryllis family (Amaryllidaceae), with around 40 species.
They are herbaceous, perennial bulbous plants found in Europe, North Africa and north-west Asia. They are grown as ornamentals for their beautiful, fragrant flowers, and for the oil extracted from them, which is widely used in perfumery. They are propagated from bulbs planted in early autumn.
Narcissi are among the first flowers to herald spring and are perfect for borders, pots and naturalising in lawns. Please note: all parts of the plant, especially the bulbs, are toxic if eaten – keep away from children and pets.
For best results, combine with one of our fertilisers (use once a month after the first month from planting).
