The distinctive Albuca spiralis comes from South Africa. Its grey-green leaves grow in tight corkscrew spirals, forming a bright green rosette, and it can produce beautiful flowers.
Albuca is a perennial in the Asparagaceae family – a bulbous and fairly succulent plant.
Its root system is fibrous and white, and its round, white bulb is no more than 5 cm in diameter.
Albuca’s leaves are fascinating thanks to their unusual spiral form, reaching up to 15 cm.
Its spiral leaves are thought to help the plant conserve moisture and cope with high temperatures.
Plant height: 15 cm
Pot diameter: 6.5 cm
