The giant China aster belongs to the aster family, Asteraceae, which includes thousands of species. These beautiful, large flowers reach 70 cm tall and are widespread in North America and southern Europe. Their name comes from the Greek word for star.

In 1637 North American asters crossed the Atlantic to Europe, where they were crossed with European varieties.

Aster flowers appear in clusters and have a long flowering season, from late summer into autumn.

Asters are often used at the back of borders or in mass plantings.

In our ornamental plants/flowers category you will find all the flowers grown to decorate indoor and outdoor spaces. Ornamental plants are mainly grown for their beautiful, colourful flowers.

Growing ornamental plants began in northern countries, where winter lasts longer, out of people's need to feel closer to nature.

Ornamental plants are divided into indoor plants, outdoor plants and garden plants. This division is not only about location: it mainly depends on each plant's needs for light, air humidity and temperature. Ornamental plants include all kinds of plants, such as cacti, climbers, shrubs, perennials and annuals, ornamental trees, bulbs and more.

Some of these plants are gladioli, coleus, carnations, violets, dahlias, snapdragons, cyclamen and more.
