Keeping only a little soil on top of them and maintaining steady moisture takes some care. Germination can take months, so do not give up on the sowing too early.<\/p><h2>Before sowing<\/h2><p>Prepare clean containers with drainage holes and a light seed-sowing mix. Moisten the mix before placing the seeds, and label each container with the species and date. If the packet gives newer, batch-specific instructions, check them before you start.<\/p><h2>Arbutus unedo<\/h2><p>Spread the fine Arbutus unedo seeds over moist seed-sowing mix, cover them very lightly and press gently. TROPICA recommends a consistently warm spot and even, gentle moisture, and notes that germination may take up to about 3 months. Do not discard the container if you do not see seedlings quickly. Avoid both drying out and overwatering. Ventilate daily if you use a cover. After germination, move the plants to a bright spot. Transplant once they have strengthened into a light mix suitable for young acid-loving plants, and gradually accustom them to outdoor conditions.<\/p><h2>Moisture, ventilation and checks<\/h2><p>Check the containers regularly.
