Die Tomate ist unbestritten die K\u00f6nigin des Sommers \u2013 ein beliebtes Gem\u00fcse und Grundzutat unz\u00e4hliger Rezepte. Ob im Garten oder im Topf: Ihr Anbau schenkt die Freude an frischen, aromatischen Fr\u00fcchten aus eigener Ernte und ist zugleich eine entspannende Besch\u00e4ftigung. Au\u00dferdem m\u00f6chten die meisten von uns Lebensmittel, die so wenig Zus\u00e4tze wie m\u00f6glich enthalten \u2013 ein weiterer guter Grund, eigene frische und aromatische Tomaten zu ziehen.<\/p>\n

Welche Tomatensorten gibt es?<\/h2>\n

Die Zahl der Tomatensorten im Handel ist schier unendlich. Wir teilen sie hier in zwei Gruppen ein und gehen auf den Anbau jeder Gruppe einzeln ein. Tomaten lassen sich in zwei Gruppen unterteilen: Stabtomaten und Buschtomaten.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stabtomaten (hochwachsende Tomaten)<\/h3>\n

Stabtomaten (indeterminierte Sorten) wachsen immer weiter in die H\u00f6he \u2013 bis zu 2,5 oder sogar 3 Meter \u2013 und brauchen eine St\u00fctze. Ihre langen Triebe werden an Schn\u00fcren, Tomatenst\u00e4ben aus Bambus oder an Rankger\u00fcsten befestigt. Zu dieser Gruppe geh\u00f6ren auch die meisten Cocktail- und Kirschtomaten. Stabtomaten tragen \u00fcber einen l\u00e4ngeren Zeitraum und sind in der Regel ertragreicher als Buschtomaten.<\/p>\n

Welche Vorteile haben Stabtomaten?<\/h4>\n
    \n
  • H\u00f6herer Ertrag: Stabtomaten liefern \u00fcber die Saison meist mehr Fr\u00fcchte als Buschtomaten.<\/li>\n
  • Weniger Platzbedarf: Da sie in die H\u00f6he wachsen, nehmen sie im Beet weniger Grundfl\u00e4che ein. <\/li>\n
  • Bessere Durchl\u00fcftung: Aufgebundene Pflanzen sind besser bel\u00fcftet, was Krankheiten vorbeugt.<\/li>\n
  • Leichtere Ernte: Die Fr\u00fcchte sind gut sichtbar und bequem erreichbar, wenn sie reif sind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Buschtomaten <\/h3>\n

    Buschtomaten (determinierte Sorten) sind eine beliebte Wahl, weil sie nicht ausgegeizt werden m\u00fcssen, um ihre Form zu behalten \u2013 es gen\u00fcgen leichte Eingriffe f\u00fcr eine bessere Durchl\u00fcftung. Zu den Buschtomaten geh\u00f6ren vor allem gro\u00dffr\u00fcchtige und mittelgro\u00dfe Sorten, etwa Verarbeitungs- und Flaschentomaten (Pomodoro), seltener kleinfr\u00fcchtige Sorten. <\/p>\n

    Welche Vorteile haben Buschtomaten?<\/h4>\n
      \n
    • Kompakter Wuchs: Sie werden bis etwa 1 Meter hoch und m\u00fcssen nicht ausgegeizt werden, da sie ihr Wachstum von selbst begrenzen.<\/li>\n
    • Vielseitig: Geeignet f\u00fcr Garten, T\u00f6pfe und sogar den Balkon.<\/li>\n
    • Robust: Viele Sorten kommen gut mit W\u00e4rme und Trockenheit zurecht und sind wenig krankheitsanf\u00e4llig.<\/li>\n
    • Fr\u00fche Ernte: Sie tragen innerhalb kurzer Zeit und liefern eine fr\u00fche, reiche Ernte.<\/li>\n
    • Einfacher Anbau: Ideal f\u00fcr Einsteiger, da keine besonderen Kenntnisse n\u00f6tig sind.<\/li>\n
    • Weniger Pflege: Sie brauchen weniger Schnitt und Pflege als Stabtomaten.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Tomaten ausgeizen<\/h3>\n

      Ein eigenes Kapitel im Tomatenanbau ist das Ausgeizen. Viele halten es f\u00fcr schwierig und kompliziert, doch es ist wichtig f\u00fcr die Pflanze, denn es f\u00f6rdert eine reiche Ernte mit ges\u00fcnderen Fr\u00fcchten.
      Das Ausgeizen sorgt f\u00fcr gute Bel\u00fcftung und Belichtung der Pflanze und unterst\u00fctzt so Photosynthese und Fruchtbildung.<\/p>\n

      Wie geizt man Tomaten richtig aus?<\/h4>\n
        \n
      • Der erste Schnitt erfolgt, wenn die Pflanze etwa 50 Zentimeter hoch ist (bei allen Tomaten).<\/li>\n
      • Entfernen Sie die kleinen Seitentriebe (Geiztriebe) in den Blattachseln zwischen Haupttrieb und Blatt (vor allem bei Stabtomaten; bei Buschtomaten nur sparsam).<\/li>\n
      • Lassen Sie h\u00f6chstens zwei bis drei Haupttriebe stehen (bei Stabtomaten), die als Nebenst\u00e4mme in die H\u00f6he wachsen.<\/li>\n
      • Wenn die Triebe etwa 2 Meter erreicht haben, kappen Sie die Spitze, damit die Pflanze nicht weiter in die H\u00f6he w\u00e4chst. So bleibt sie w\u00e4hrend der ganzen Saison kr\u00e4ftig und vital (Stabtomaten).<\/li>\n
      • Entfernen Sie die unteren Bl\u00e4tter, damit die Pflanze keinen Kontakt zur Erde hat \u2013 so sch\u00fctzen Sie sie vor Pilzkrankheiten (bei allen Tomaten).<\/li>\n
      • Au\u00dferdem ist es sinnvoll, bei sehr starkem Fruchtansatz einige Fr\u00fcchte auszud\u00fcnnen, damit die \u00fcbrigen gr\u00f6\u00dfer werden und besser ausreifen (bei allen Tomaten).<\/li>\n
      • Entfernen Sie schlie\u00dflich gelbe und welke Bl\u00e4tter (bei allen Tomaten).<\/li>\n
      • Entfernen Sie Triebe, die sich ineinander verflechten, damit Ihre Pflanzen besser bel\u00fcftet und belichtet werden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Worauf sollte man beim Ausgeizen achten?<\/h4>\n

        • Geizen Sie aus, wenn die Pflanzen trocken sind.<\/li>\n
        • Schneiden Sie nicht zu viel \u2013 Ziel ist lediglich eine ausreichende Bel\u00fcftung und Belichtung.<\/li>\n
        • Verwenden Sie immer das passende Werkzeug.<\/li>\n

          Die Wahl der passenden Tomatensorte h\u00e4ngt von mehreren Faktoren ab, zum Beispiel:<\/strong>
          Klima: W\u00e4hlen Sie Sorten, die zu den Bedingungen in Ihrer Region passen.
          Anbaufl\u00e4che: Ber\u00fccksichtigen Sie den verf\u00fcgbaren Platz f\u00fcr die Pflanzen.
